The mission of Leadin' for a Cure has always been to make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer and Crohn’s disease in partnership with Children's Mercy Hospital. This year, while our commitment to helping children remains the same, our focus extends to supporting one of our own.

 

Trey Befort, director of commercial programs for the American Hereford Association, and Sara Befort, chief operating officer for the American Royal Association, along with their two-year old daughter Lyla, were eagerly anticipating the arrival of their newest family member. On March 1, their son, Rhett Befort, arrived 10 weeks early. While he is showing incredible strength, Rhett will remain in the NICU for the foreseeable future.

 

To help the Befort family through this unexpected journey, Leadin' for a Cure is dedicating the 2025 fundraising efforts to assist with escalating medical expenses. The Beforts have devoted their lives to the agriculture industry, and now, we have the opportunity to rally around them as a livestock and agriculture family.
